Physical Education

Eden Hill Primary School

Pre-primary to Year 6 Students at Eden Hill Primary School each receive 50-minute Physical Education lessons each week with Mrs Andrews. These classes, whilst developing athletic skills, are also promoted to ensure our students develop good sportsmanship.

The focus of these lessons will be to acquire, practise, manage and refine Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS). FMS include throwing, catching, running, jumping, hopping, galloping, kicking, balancing, and leaping. They are the basic building blocks of more specialised, complex skills used in organised and non-organised games, sports, and recreational activities.

There will be a progression from Year 1 through to Year 6 with the goal being students in Year 6 will be able to manipulate their FMS and, for example, adjust their force and speed to improve accuracy and control, in organised games.

Cross Country is held in Term 2, followed by the Interschool Cross Country later in the term.

Athletics Carnival is held in Term 3, with weekly faction training sessions in the lead up under the guidance of their classroom teachers. Eden Hill competes at Interschool against local schools from Bassendean PS, Bayswater PS, Guildford PS, Lockridge PS and Maylands Peninsula PS.

All Pre-Primary to Year 6 students have the opportunity to participate in 2 weeks of swimming lessons a year.

Eden Hill competes in the Cricket Blast Cup, State Cross Country, Lightning Cups and Dodgeball competitions throughout the year.
